Security and privacy: why TurboFix works only locally
No cloud, no account, no profiling. TurboFix analyzes, cleans and backs up without leaving the computer, and the assistant works locally. Here's the philosophy behind every feature, and the exact list of the few things that go out.
Everything stays on the computer
TurboFix was born from a simple idea: the computer belongs to the person using it, and the data about it shouldn't go anywhere. There's no TurboFix cloud where files end up, we don't build a profile on anyone, there's no profiling of any kind and we sell nothing to anyone.
We want to be precise all the way, because "zero data" is a phrase many use without earning it. Something does go out, and it's only fair to list it in full rather than write a catchy line:
- The email address you leave to receive the key. It's used only to send it, and to send it again if you lose it. No newsletters, no ads, never handed to anyone.
- The technical activation data. The key, the app version and a fingerprint of the computer: 32 characters computed in a non-reversible way, from which neither the PC nor its user can be traced. They tie the license to the computers it's activated on and check that it's still valid.
- Error reports, on by default. Only the technical details of the failure, scrubbed on the computer of username, computer name and personal paths before they're sent. Switch them off whenever you like.
- Anonymous statistics, but only if you turn them on: they start off. Which screens get opened and what kind of question is asked, never the text you typed.
- The installation count, under the same switch as the statistics: a random number generated on the computer and the app version. It's fixed, it doesn't change over time: we say so because it's true, even if it sounds less nice.
- The review, if you leave one. It's sent only when you write it.
Nothing else goes out. All the details, with legal bases and retention periods, are in the Privacy policy.
When TurboFix analyzes the system, cleans up useless files or creates a backup, all of these operations happen entirely locally. Information about the state of the computer, temperatures, disk space, installed programs, is read, displayed and stays right there. It has no ticket out.
This isn't one feature among many: it's the way the software has been built from day one. Privacy isn't an add-on, it's the starting point.
No account: just a key, by email
No profile, no password, no list of consents. Only one thing is needed: the email address you enter receives the key. The key is activated by connecting to the internet once, then the program works without a network too: the periodic license check happens when the network is there, and if it fails nothing happens.
The email address is used only to deliver the key: it's the only way we have of getting it to you, and of sending it again if you lose it. We don't send unsolicited newsletters, we don't build profiles, and there's nothing to sync with an external service because all the work stays on the computer.
Anyone who wants to contact support can write to supporto@turbofix.it, but that's a choice, not a condition for using the software.
Real data, not scaremongering
TurboFix shows what the PC actually says, not numbers inflated to scare you. Temperatures and hardware loads come from the machine's real sensors, read through LibreHardwareMonitor, an open source library that enthusiasts also use to monitor their own computers.
The state of the system is reconstructed from the official Windows logs and from the information the operating system itself exposes. Nothing invented, no "3,482 critical errors" that don't exist.
TurboFix is free and has no need to push a purchase: that's why it can afford to be honest. If the PC is fine, it says so. If something deserves attention, it explains it in clear words. The full picture of the features is on the features page.
Analyze first, act afterwards
TurboFix touches nothing without confirmation. Every operation follows the same rhythm: first it analyzes and shows what it found, then it acts only on what you approve.
- You see before you decide: which temporary files, which cache, how much space can be recovered. Nothing is hidden behind an "optimize everything" button.
- Restore points: before the most delicate operations, TurboFix can create a system restore point, so you can always go back.
- Reversible actions: the approach is designed never to leave you in a dead end.
Control stays with the person using the program at every step. TurboFix is a tool, not an autopilot that decides on anyone's behalf.
Your credentials, kept safe
Backing up to a NAS or a network folder may require an access password. That password is never written in plain text to a text or configuration file.
It's encrypted and stored so that it can't be read by opening a file in Notepad. It stays on the computer, protected, and is used only by TurboFix to connect to the backup device when asked.
Credentials belong to whoever entered them: TurboFix keeps them safe, doesn't expose them and doesn't send them anywhere.
Open to anyone who wants to check
TurboFix doesn't ask you to take its word for it. The diagnostic logs are in plain text and stay on the computer: open them and read what the software did, step by step.
Every feature is explained simply, without needless jargon: you always know what you're about to do before you do it. The goal is to help you understand your computer, not to ask for blind faith in a black box.
TurboFix is made in Italy, developed by Eric Gilberti, and it's free. It's a product looked after by a person who puts his name to it, with the idea that maintenance software should, above all, respect you.

No promises of certifications or audits that don't exist: here we only talk about what TurboFix actually does: it works locally, verifies updates with SHA-256, encrypts credentials, analyzes before cleaning and offers restore points. That's all.
No AI model: a rules engine, on your computer
No artificial intelligence model runs inside TurboFix: hand-written rules and values read at that moment, so with the computer in the same state the answer is always the same. No calls to an external service: the text you type and the PC's data never leave, and the assistant works even with the network unplugged. How it's built is explained on the assistant page.
