Backup the way it should be: automatic, versioned, simple

Almost nobody backs up, because almost every backup program looks like it was made for system administrators. TurboFix turns it into three choices: what to save, where, when. It takes care of the rest, every day, quietly.

Inside Windows

Get files back with a right-click, inside Windows

With the system image on, TurboFix creates the snapshots Windows uses for "Previous Versions": right-click a file or folder → Properties → Previous Versions, and take back yesterday's copy. Without opening any program.

With traditional solutions (even professional ones like Veeam) you have to open the vendor's console and hunt for the file in its archives. With TurboFix, recovery is built into the system you already know.

How it works

Choose the folders. Documents, Desktop and Pictures are already set up; add or remove others with one click.
Set the destination. A network NAS (e.g. \\NAS\backup) or an external drive. If a username and password are needed, the password is encrypted and kept by Windows: it never ends up in any readable file.
Set the time. Every day at the chosen time, the backup starts on its own, even with TurboFix closed. The icon next to the clock always shows when the last one ran.
The rule

Three copies, two media, one off-site

Technicians call it the 3-2-1 rule and it's the simplest way to never lose anything: three copies of your data (the original and two backups), on two different media (the computer and a NAS or external drive), with one off-site. It sounds like a lot, but the real point is another one: the backup that works is the automatic one. The one “you'll do on Sunday” doesn't exist.

The first backup captures everything; from then on only changed files are copied: seconds, not hours. While it runs you see the real progress percentage, and at the end the outcome is written clearly at the top of the page: green if all went well, amber if some files were in use, red with the exact reason if something went wrong.

Versions

Versions: get back even the file "from last Thursday"

Everyone has overwritten a document with the wrong version. That's why, before updating or deleting a file in the backup, TurboFix sets the previous copy aside in a dated folder. You choose how many versions to keep (7 days, 30…) and recovery is trivial: they're ordinary files, you open and copy them.

Beyond files, TurboFix can create a full image of the PC: Windows, programs, settings, everything. If the disk dies or the system won't boot, you restore the whole computer as it was. It's the same professional Windows technology (wbadmin + VSS), the one that also provides the "Previous Versions" described above.

The desktop, the laptop and the office PC all save to the same network folder? No problem: every computer gets its own folder under its own name. Nothing gets mixed up, nothing gets overwritten.
